| Titans Come Back Late, Nip Bears | The Baylor Bears got a sterling performance from shortstop Greg Peoples, but the Titans still prevailed, 6-5. Peoples was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Jim Arden in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Justin McNamee took the loss. The save was Jim Ferguson's, his 2nd.
The Titans got a big at-bat from left fielder Rico Velarde. For the game, Velarde went 1-2 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 5th hit of the season gave Cal State Fullerton a 4-3 lead.
"We'll savor this win," Velarde told the Cal State Fullerton Bulletin, "then get ready for the next game."
The Titans, now 5-1, have stormed out of the gates.
