| Cardinals Hope Win Turns Around Slow Start | The Stanford Cardinals defeated the Washington State Cougars, 7-2, in Rod Dedeaux League action at Tribe Ballpark, with Stanford pitcher Ray Brittingham named player of the game. In 5.1 innings, Brittingham surrendered 1 hit, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. The Cougars, now 3-2, have been pitiful so far.
The Cardinals got a big at-bat from shortstop Eric Harrell. For the game, Harrell went 3-5 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 4th hit of the season gave Stanford a 1-0 lead.
