| Salukis Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Volunteers | It was a fun time at Field of the Shield, where the Tennessee Volunteers and South Illinois Salukis tangled.
South Illinois starter Pete Myers pitched effectively against the Tennessee Volunteers at Field of the Shield. The left-hander led his team to a 6-3 win. With the win, South Illinois pushes its record to 2-2.
The Salukis got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Matt Hall. For the game, Hall was 1 for 1 with a double. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave South Illinois a 4-3 lead.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Myers said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
