| Bears Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start | The Houston Cougars and Baylor Bears were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at Suns Ballpark.
Tom Griffith helped his team muscle past the Houston Cougars, 6-2. In the game, the Baylor first baseman was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Bengt Beekman was the winner. Over 5 innings, he allowed no runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.
It could have been a different outcome for Baylor, had it not been for Jeff Brown, the 19-year old right fielder . Brown contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Baylor up, 2-0.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Brown said.
Baylor, now 1-2, is off to a slow start.
