Stogies Roll Over Islanders, 9-3

The Havana Stogies knocked off the Hawaii Islanders, 9-3, at The Humidor. Silvio Garcia, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Havana won. The second baseman went 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Lester Bisdu picked up the win, improving his season record to 4-5. He struck out 3 in 7 innings. Havana is now 38-25, 7½ games up in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division.

Barry Huffman aided the Havana cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the left fielder went 2 for 5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Garcia told reporters after the game.
