| Multi-HR Game for Magner in 9-4 Win | The South Mississippi Golden Eagles beat the Texas Longhorns, 9-4, at Ballpark of Celebration College. South Mississippi right fielder Danny Magner earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Adrian Rakes got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Longhorns to no earned runs on 1 hit over 5.1 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 0. Ryan Dudzinski earned the save, his 1st, for the Golden Eagles.
Magner had a key at-bat for South Mississippi early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and gave South Mississippi an early 2-0 lead.
In postgame comments to the South Mississippi Herald, Magner said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Golden Eagles, now 2-0, have hit the ground running this season.
