| Dorsett hits 1st home run as 49'ers Squeeze Past Baylor | The Long Beach State 49'ers beat the Baylor Bears, 9-8, at Wolverines Stadium. Long Beach State first baseman Sam Dorsett earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Mike Fischer was called on to finish, recording his 1st save. The win leaves Long Beach State with a record of 1-1.
The 49'ers got a big at-bat from right fielder Greg Jordan. For the game, Jordan went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. In the top of the sixth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 2nd hit of the season gave Long Beach State a 6-5 lead.
In comments to the Long Beach State News, Dorsett insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
