Tar Heels Slip Past Ohio State, 6-5

Ballpark of Bloomfield College was the site of an exciting ballgame between the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The North Carolina Tar Heels beat the Ohio State Buckeyes, 6-5 at Ballpark of Bloomfield College, in part due to left fielder Jerry Pringle, who nabbed player of the game honors. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Noah Speech got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 2 runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Matt England earned the save, his 1st, for the Tar Heels.

Pringle had a game-changing home run in the top of the 11th. On a 2-0 fastball from Larry Townsend, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Tar Heels a 6-3 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Pringle.

Pringle told a North Carolina Citizen reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.

With the win, North Carolina is 1-1.
