Late Rally by Tigers Secures Win

The Oregon Ducks inaugurated the 2038 campaign with a disappointing 7-6 loss to the LSU Tigers at Crunch Ballpark. LSU center fielder Vince Peterson had a big impact on the outcome. He went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3.

Had Edgar Melo not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Melo hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Tigers.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said LSU manager Vicente Otero.
