Weed Slugs Cougars to 12-4 Win

The Houston Cougars put one in the win column on Opening Day at Suns Ballpark. The Cougars defeated the Louisiana-Layfayette Ragin Cajuns, 12-4. Houston third baseman Keith Weed was instrumental in his team's success. He was 2-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 4 times and driving in 5.

Weed contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Houston in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Weed took a fastball from Josh Duke and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Cougars to leap in front, 2-1.
