| Earthquakes Win, Velásquez has 3 hit day | The San Francisco Earthquakes knocked off the South Carolina Bombers, 5-2, at Bomber Ballpark. Arturo Velásquez, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason San Francisco won. The catcher went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Lloyd Huggins picked up the win, improving his season record to 4-6. He struck out 3 in 5 innings. Pang Yip was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 3 save opportunities.
Velásquez had a key at-bat for San Francisco early in the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and gave San Francisco an early 3-0 lead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Velásquez told reporters after the game.
San Francisco is now 31-34, while South Carolina is 29-37.
