Gnats Win at New Orleans, 3-2

The Nichols Gnats did just enough to secure a 3-2 victory over the New Orleans Jedi Knights at The Republic. Nobody did more than pitcher Franklin Salinas, who captured player of the game honors. Salinas, the winner, moves to 14-11. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. The Gnats raised their record to 79-83.

Had Jordan Orquiz not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Orquiz hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Gnats.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Orquiz.
