| Panthers Need Extras to Top Knights | The Charleston Panthers relied on the hitting of catcher Hiyutaro Ushijima to stop the Kingwood Knights, 6-5. For the game, Ushijima went 3-6 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Danny Luna got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. The Panthers bumped their record to 81-76 with this latest triumph.
The Panthers got a big at-bat from center fielder John Huot. For the game, Huot was 2-3 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the 16th, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 55th hit of the season gave Charleston a 6-5 lead.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Ushijima told the Charleston Chronicle.
