| Saints Fall Short at Coney Island | Coney Island Cyclones starter Tris Griffin was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the St. Paul Saints, 4-3. Coney Island reliever Bobby Roche was credited with the win, to go to 6-1. Brett Shumway took the loss for St. Paul. Stephen Schuller notched his 21st save in 22 chances.
Sam Groendyk aided the Coney Island cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the first baseman went 1-3 with a hit by pitch.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Coney Island manager Jesús Cruz.
The 5th-place Cyclones improved to 71-86.
