| Orphans Edge Pelicans, 5-4 | The Cambridge Orphans grabbed a 5-4 win over the St. Petersburg Pelicans at Abbey Stadium. Cambridge right fielder Taylor Ellis was 4 for 5 with 4 singles. He drove in 2 runs to earn player of the game honors. Cambridge reliever Alex Vazquez was the winner. His record is now 3-5. The losing pitcher was Barend van Veen. Rusty Tine was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 13 of 14 save opportunities.
The Orphans got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jesus Aquilar. For the game, Aquilar went 1-3 with a walk and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 19th hit of the season gave Cambridge a 4-2 lead.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Aquilar said.
Even with the win, the Orphans have a dismal 49-105 record.
