Pelicans Squelch Kings Offense in Shutout Win

A nice crowd turned out to see the St. Petersburg Pelicans and Atlantic City Kings clash at The Royal Colosseum.

The St. Petersburg Pelicans defeated the Atlantic City Kings, 4-0, in RCLA action at The Royal Colosseum, with St. Petersburg pitcher Harry Kates named player of the game. In 6.1 innings, Kates surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed no runs.

The Pelicans got a big at-bat from right fielder Miguel Munguia. For the game, Munguia was 1 for 3 with a double and 2 walks. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 29th double of the season gave St. Petersburg a 1-0 lead.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Kates said.

The Pelicans bumped their record to 79-73 with this latest triumph.
