| River Chiefs Score Late, Stun Princes, 8-6 | The Chippewa River Chiefs downed the Bel Air Princes, 8-6, at The Reservation. The River Chiefs were led by Kyle Wakeman, who captured player of the game honors. He slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 6. Chippewa reliever Paul Childers picked up the win, bumping his record to 6-4. David Medina was collared with the loss. The River Chiefs bumped their record to 82-58 with this latest triumph.
Wakeman had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a 3-1 fastball from David Medina, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the River Chiefs a 8-6 lead. It was the 26th home run of the year for Wakeman.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Wakeman, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
