Tree City left fielder Alejandro Mata was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 4 for 6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 4 runs and drove in 4. Tree City reliever Jaime Tait picked up the win to move to 3-10. Patrick Blakey suffered the loss. Tree City has now won 3 in a row.
Mata had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 1-0 fastball from Patrick Blakey, he banged a grand slam home run to left-center, giving the Black Squirrels a 9-5 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Mata.
In postgame remarks, Mata simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
