Mustangs Squelch Saints Offense in Shutout Win

The San Angelo Mustangs defeated the St. Paul Saints, 5-0, at Saints Ballpark. San Angelo right fielder Mike Montero was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. San Angelo reliever Dave Conboy got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Felix Mondaca was tagged with the loss. The Mustangs raised their record to 66-68.

Montero had a game-changing single in the top of the seventh. On a first pitch sinker from Felix Mondaca, he banged a run-scoring single to left, giving the Mustangs a 1-0 lead. It was the 91st hit of the year for Montero.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Montero told the San Angelo Citizen.
