| Black Squirrels Win at Nichols, 11-2 | The Tree City Black Squirrels beat the Nichols Gnats, 11-2, at The Pond. Tree City third baseman Israel Ortega earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 2-3 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Alex Gomez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-0. Jeff Bushman was tagged with the loss. Tree City is now riding a 3-game win streak.
The Black Squirrels got a big at-bat from first baseman Jose Curione. For the game, Curione was 2-5 with a double, while adding 4 RBI. In the top of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 94th hit of the season gave Tree City a 3-2 lead.
"We came out aggressive," said Black Squirrels manager Doug Bergeron. "We came out swinging the bats."
