| Mustangs Score Late, Top Warriors, 4-2 | Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the San Angelo Mustangs got the win.
Winfield got a terrific performance from pitcher Hidehiro Yamamoto, but it wasn't enough to beat the San Angelo Mustangs. San Angelo won the Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium contest, 4-2. Yamamoto was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings allowing 4 runs. Today's win puts San Angelo at 57-67, while Winfield falls to 50-73.
Had Tanner Handel not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Handel hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Mustangs.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Handel told the San Angelo Citizen.
