| Orphans Prevail, 5-3, Over West Virginia | Behind a solid performance from left fielder Sean Saunders, the Cambridge Orphans defeated the West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws, 5-3. Saunders was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Orphans. Rusty Tine converted his 8th save in 9 tries. Even with the win, the Orphans have a dismal 42-78 record.
Saunders had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-2 fastball from Mike Gordon, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Orphans a 5-3 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Saunders.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Saunders told a Cambridge News reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
