| Earthquakes Win in 14 | The San Francisco Earthquakes knocked off the Vancouver Pioneers, 9-8, at "The Fort" at B.C. Place. Alex Bahena, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason San Francisco won. The second baseman was 3-6 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The winner was San Francisco reliever Steve Cherry, now 1-0. The loser was Ronaldo Pérez. The third-place Earthquakes are now 29-31, the Pioneers 21-39.
Jun Ogura's hit in the top of the 14th was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a fastball from Ronaldo Pérez for a run-scoring single. It put San Francisco in front, 9-8.
"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Bahena.
