Kaneko Helps Knights Run Win Streak to 3

Kingwood shortstop Akira Kaneko was instrumental in his team's 12-0 win over the Coney Island Cyclones. Kaneko, who is tied for 10th in the TA in doubles with 21, went 3-5 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Knights. Scott Schaefers got the win, improving to 4-2. He worked 5 innings, giving up no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. The Knights bumped their record to 82-38 with this latest triumph.

Eric Head aided the Kingwood cause with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the catcher went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3.

"We'll keep our chins up and get ready for the next game," said losing manager Jesús Cruz.
