| Panthers Trip Cyclones in Extras | The Charleston Panthers faced a tough opponent in Coney Island pitcher Jimmie Morton, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Coney Island Coliseum by a final score of 4-1. Morton went 7.2 innings and allowed no earned runs. Charleston reliever Bob Reel picked up the win to move to 2-0. Jason Ruby suffered the loss. The Panthers bumped their record to 59-55 with this latest triumph.
Morihiko Eda aided the Charleston cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-4 with a triple.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Eda, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
