| Big Day with Bat: Ellerby 5-for-5 | Today at Hornets Field, Justin Ellerby put on an impressive display.
The Bethesda Hornets right fielder tagged Houston pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Houston Sting by the score of 7-6.
"The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Ellerby said. "5-for-5 ain't bad in any league."
Despite the terrific performance, the Hornets manager was unwilling to offer his right fielder much praise, saying he holds his "whole roster" accountable for losses.
"Justin told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Bob Reece said.
Justin Ellerby singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jorge Jaranillo in the 6th and singled in the 8th.\n
This season Ellerby has hit at a .268 clip with 20 RBIs, 4 home runs and 25 runs scored. He has played in 56 games. |
