Victoria left fielder Alex Alfredo earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 3-3 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Zachary Schultz notched his 24th save in 25 chances. The first-place Vikings, at 63-42, now lead their division by 6 games.
Had Javier Trujillo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Trujillo hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Vikings.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Alfredo. "And not try to do too much."
