| Orphans Score Late, Top Jedi Knights, 7-6 | With designated hitter Iván Pérez leading the charge, the Cambridge Orphans defeated the New Orleans Jedi Knights, 7-6, at Abbey Stadium. Pérez was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Cambridge reliever Rusty Tine picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-1. Geoff Baxter was collared with the loss. Even with the win, the Orphans have a dismal 34-66 record.
Pérez had a game-changing double in the bottom of the ninth. On a full count fastball from Geoff Baxter, he banged a run-scoring double to center, giving the Orphans a 7-6 lead. It was the 5th double of the year for Pérez.
"This place was jumping at the end," Pérez said.
