| Panthers Come Up Short at Tree City | In a close game at The Nut House, the Tree City Black Squirrels edged the Charleston Panthers, 4-3. Tree City designated hitter John Begley earned the nod as player of the game. He went 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Jaime Tait earned his 7th save in 11 chances. The win boosts the Black Squirrels to 56-48. The loss puts the Panthers at 51-50.
Alejandro Mata went 1-3 with a walk for Tree City. The speedster had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Harry Plyler. It was his 43rd walk of the season.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Mata. "And not try to do too much."
