| Victory Pushes Sting Record to 57-42 | Kingwood second baseman Akira Kaneko had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Kaneko was 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2, even as Houston beat the Knights, 8-6. Kaneko was named the player of the game despite the loss. Houston reliever Hugh Umlah picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Francisco Rodríguez shouldered the loss. The Sting bumped their record to 57-42 with this latest triumph.
Troy Shrader had a big run-scoring double for the Sting in the bottom of the second inning. With Houston trailing 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from Francisco Rodríguez and stroked the double to left-center. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sting ahead, 2-1.
"We take it day by day here," said Shrader, "and today was a good one for us."
