| Black Squirrels Roll Cyclones, 7-5 | Coney Island got a terrific performance from right fielder Juan Flores, but it wasn't enough to beat the Tree City Black Squirrels. Tree City won the Coney Island Coliseum contest, 7-5. Flores was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win was credited to Alex Gomez in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Andy Susee took the loss. Jaime Tait got the save, his 6th in 9 chances.
Had Arturo Ramirez not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Ramirez hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Black Squirrels.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Ramirez told reporters after the game.
The Black Squirrels saw their record improve to 54-47.
