| River Chiefs Stun Road Warriors, 6-5 | Chippewa beat Westside at The Reservation, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to designated hitter Trent Berge, who earned player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with 3 doubles and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The win was credited to Erik Brown in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Manuel Visser took the loss. The River Chiefs bumped their record to 55-45 with this latest triumph.
Had Tony Villalobos not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Villalobos hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the River Chiefs.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Villalobos told reporters after the game.
