| Orphans Get Close Win Over Warriors | The Orphans had to overcome a fine effort from Winfield pitcher Enrique Flores to grab a narrow 5-4 win at The Barn. Flores went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Cambridge reliever John Saucedo was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Jose Eliserio took the loss for Winfield. Even with the win, the Orphans have a dismal 33-62 record.
Had Iván Pérez not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Pérez hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Orphans.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Pérez told the Cambridge News.
