Crosscutters Prevail, 2-1, Over Victoria

Fans who came to Crosscutters Park watched the Williamsport Crosscutters and the Victoria Vikings fight to the finish.

The Williamsport Crosscutters got a stellar effort from pitcher Francisco Valenzuela, helping Williamsport score a 2-1 win over the visiting Victoria Vikings. Valenzuela picked up the win for Williamsport, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 12-14.

Had Rafael Gonzalez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Gonzalez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Crosscutters.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Williamsport manager Michael Ashe said.

Williamsport is now 34-62, Victoria 58-40.
