Schmidt goes 3-for-5 to Power Jedi Knights Offense

The New Orleans Jedi Knights beat the Nichols Gnats, 9-4, at The Republic. The Jedi Knights got a fine performance from first baseman Jason Schmidt, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 5. The Jedi Knights bumped their record to 53-43 with this latest triumph.

Bill Cota drew 2 walks for New Orleans. The 22-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jeff Bushman. It was his 44th walk of the season.
