| River Chiefs Clip Saints in Tight Contest | The St. Paul Saints got a superb performance from pitcher Danny Garcia, but the Chippewa River Chiefs still won the game, 5-3. Garcia was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Juan Bravo was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 6 of 7 save opportunities. The last-place Saints have lost 6 straight games.
Had Ricky Ponce de Leon not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Ponce de Leon hit a 2-run triple. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the River Chiefs.
"Feels good to get the job done," Ponce de Leon said after the game.
