| Orphans Turn Back St. Petersburg, 4-3 | St. Petersburg got a terrific game from catcher Andy Jameson. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Cambridge, 4-3. Jameson was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Reliever Roberto Ortega picked up the win. His record improves to 5-7. Mario Pagan took the loss. Rafael Padilla notched his 3rd save in 3 chances.
The Orphans got a big at-bat from catcher Steve Bathurst. For the game, Bathurst went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. In the top of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 16th double of the season gave Cambridge a 1-0 lead.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said St. Petersburg manager Dennis Inman, "let me know."
Cambridge is now 30-55, while St. Petersburg is 44-45.
