| Pelicans Need Extras to Top Orphans | The St. Petersburg Pelicans did just enough to secure a 7-6 victory over the Cambridge Orphans at Billy Mathews Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Tony Cisneros, who captured player of the game honors. St. Petersburg reliever Kyle Gamber picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Josh Brolin took the loss. The win puts the Pelicans at 44-44, while the Orphans drop to 29-55.
Mike Medina, who is rated as the 10th best prospect by BNN, contributed to the St. Petersburg win with a solo home run in the bottom of the 11th. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Cisneros told reporters after the game.
