| Black Squirrels Clip Saints in Tight Contest | The Tree City Black Squirrels scored a 1-0 win versus the St. Paul Saints at Saints Ballpark. Tree City pitcher Alex Gomez nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Gomez got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 2 hits and walked 1 over 5 innings. Gomez allowed no earned runs. The Black Squirrels bumped their record to 43-38 with this latest triumph.
The Black Squirrels got a big at-bat from designated hitter John Begley. For the game, Begley went 1-4 with a double. In the top of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 10th double of the season gave Tree City a 1-0 lead.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Tree City manager Doug Bergeron.
