| Cortez Sensational for Warriors | The Winfield Warriors picked up a win at The Barn, knocking off the St. Petersburg Pelicans, 2-0. Starting pitcher Ivan Cortez, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Winfield is 5th in the TMLA Earl Weaver Division with a record of 33-45.
Cortez ran roughshod over the St. Petersburg lineup. The left-hander allowed just 2 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 14. With the victory, he goes to 2-2 on the season.
"Feels good to get the job done," Cortez said after the game.
