| Panthers Win at Nichols, 8-5 | The Charleston Panthers topped the Nichols Gnats, 8-5, in Lyman Bostock League action at The Pond. The player of the game was Charleston shortstop Mitchell Gilbert. Charleston reliever Mike Vineyard was credited with the win, to go to 3-3. Mario Solorio took the loss for Nichols. Charleston has now reeled off 6 straight wins.
In the top of the 6th, designated hitter Leo Santana gave Charleston the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Panthers had been trailing 5-4, but the two-out single off Nichols pitcher Mario Solorio changed that -- and Charleston went on to win.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Charleston manager Jim Crawford.
