River Chiefs Turn Back Winfield, 2-0

Chippewa and Winfield duked it out at The Reservation and the River Chiefs came out victorious.

The Chippewa River Chiefs topped the Winfield Warriors, 2-0, in Lyman Bostock League action at The Reservation. The player of the game was Chippewa pitcher Vicente Zavala. Zavala went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 8-2. Juan Bravo notched his 4th save in 5 chances.

The River Chiefs got a big at-bat from catcher Ricky Ponce de Leon. For the game, Ponce de Leon went 1-4 with a double. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 11th double of the season gave Chippewa a 1-0 lead.
