| Mitchell Goes Off, But Gnats Win | The Nichols Gnats overcame a good performance by St. Paul shortstop Rich Mitchell to knock off St. Paul, 10-8, at Saints Ballpark. Mitchell hit 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Howard Radley converted his 5th save in 5 tries. The Gnats bumped their record to 36-30 with this latest triumph.
The Gnats got a big at-bat from designated hitter Marco Antonio Guillermo. For the game, Antonio Guillermo went 2-5 with a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. In the top of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 2nd hit of the season gave Nichols a 3-2 lead.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Norm Cobb said.
