| Late Rally by Gnats Secures Win | The Pond was the site of a tense game between the New Orleans Jedi Knights and Nichols Gnats.
The Gnats had to overcome a fine performance from New Orleans pitcher Kevin Maxwell to grab a 3-1 win at The Pond. Maxwell allowed 1 earned run over 7 innings. Nichols reliever Mario Solorio was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. Esteban García took the loss for New Orleans.
Had Tony Gonzales not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Gonzales hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Gnats.
"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Gonzales.
The Gnats bumped their record to 35-27 with this latest triumph.
