| Knights Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras | The Chippewa River Chiefs got a superb performance from pitcher Elijah Cooke. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Kingwood. The Knights won the game, 9-3. In spite of the loss, Cooke was named the player of the game. He threw 9 innings of 6-hit ball. Kingwood reliever Mao-you Mi picked up the win to move to 3-3. Paul Childers suffered the loss. The first-place Knights now have a 4-game winning streak.
The Knights got a big at-bat from designated hitter Antonio Torres. For the game, Torres was 3 for 4 with 3 doubles and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. In the top of the 12th, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 7th double of the season gave Kingwood a 5-3 lead.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Torres told the Kingwood Bulletin. "It's as simple as that."
