| Medina Hits 2 home runs in Pelicans Win | The St. Petersburg Pelicans beat the Cambridge Orphans, 9-2, at Billy Mathews Field. The Pelicans got a fine performance from center fielder Mike Medina, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. The Pelicans bumped their record to 43-43 with this latest triumph.
Medina contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for St. Petersburg in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-0, Medina took a slider from Luis Zarate and stroked the home run to left. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Pelicans to leap in front, 4-2.
"It was a solid team effort," said Medina after the game.
