| Late Rally by Bush Wackers Secures Win | The Brisbane Bush Wackers beat the Cambridge Orphans, 8-6, at Abbey Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of second baseman Ryan Calcagno, who captured player of the game honors. He was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The winner was Brisbane reliever Royce Leveque, now 1-1. The loser was Jared Lesley. The Bush Wackers bumped their record to 28-27 with this latest triumph.
The Bush Wackers got a big at-bat from first baseman Manuel Vargas. For the game, Vargas went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the eighth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Brisbane a 8-6 lead.
"What we get, we earn," Calcagno told the Brisbane Gazette.
