| Black Squirrels Nip Road Warriors, 5-4 | The Tree City Black Squirrels faced a tough opponent in Westside pitcher Jon Duren, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Nut House by a final score of 5-4. Duren went 6 innings and allowed 5 earned runs. The winner was Tree City reliever Jose Munoz, now 4-1. The loser was Jon Duren. Tree City has 5 straight wins, Westside 3 straight losses.
In the bottom of the 6th, designated hitter John Begley gave Tree City the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Black Squirrels had been trailing 4-3, but the two-out double off Westside pitcher Jon Duren changed that -- and Tree City went on to win.
"What we get, we earn," Begley told the Tree City Observer.
