| Road Warriors Subdue Coney Island, 5-3 | The Westside Road Warriors defeated the Coney Island Cyclones, 5-3. Earning player of the game honors was right fielder Mike Brandenburg, who went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Ken Maynard picked up the save for Westside, his 7th of the year. Westside is now 25-27, while Coney Island is 26-24.
In the bottom of the first inning, left fielder Edgardo Vargas came through big-time for the Road Warriors. With Westside trailing 2-0, he belted a 2-run home run.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Vargas told the Westside Daily News.
