| Saints Get One-Run Win at Atlantic City | Atlantic City got a terrific performance from pitcher Arend Bakker, but it wasn't enough to beat the St. Paul Saints. St. Paul won the The Royal Colosseum contest, 3-2. Bakker was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 7-hit ball. Even with the win, the Saints have a dismal 14-35 record.
The Saints got a big at-bat from catcher Nick Buttermore. For the game, Buttermore was 1 for 3 with a walk. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 29th hit of the season gave St. Paul a 3-2 lead.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Buttermore.
